Road Intelligence Updates - April 2025

We've added Network Speeds and SSO to Road Intelligence.

Single Sign On (SSO)

We've added SSO via Google and Microsoft Accounts. SSO allows users to access multiple applications with a single set of credentials. You'll still need to use your organisational email. To access the Road Intelligence platform using SSO.

Can I still use Magic Link?

Yep, you can still log in using the Magic Link method. To do this enter your organisational email address, and an email will be sent to your inbox. Users should be able to choose either login option.

What email do I use for SSO?

You will still need to use your organisational email whether you login with Magic Link or SSO. No personal Google or Microsoft accounts can be used to access the platform.

Network Speeds Visual Layer

We've added a new Visual Layer called Network Speeds. Network Speeds provides area-wide insights of sections of all roads. This enables unique insights on the speed performance of each section of all streets in a particular area.

Hovering over different edges will display speed information about that edge, including the OSM ID and the direction for bi-directional roads. Some roads that are bi-directional in real life may only appear as one-directional in the platform because of gaps in OSM.

Interaction Effects for Network Speeds and Origin-Destination: Please note that Network Speeds cannot be used in the origin-destination tool and will return the following tool tip. This is because we show vehicle pathing and edge usage information on the map during origin-destination queries, which would overlap with any network speed visuals. The exception to this is when viewing the results for 'All' vehicle types.

Filtering Results

Users can filter Network Speed results in 4 ways:

  1. Vehicle type as All, HCV, Bus, or Car
  2. Mode as Raw, Congestion, or Speeding
  3. Speed Aggregates as Average, 85th, 15th, or Median
  4. A speed range by using the Speed Slider

Different Modes

There are 3 different Modes:

  1. Raw - Shows where vehicles are travelling slower, between, or above a certain speed band. For example, red shows edges where vehicles travelling slower than 15km/h (9mph) while orange shows edges where vehicles are travelling between 15 - 40km/h (9-25mph).
  2. Congestion - Shows how slow vehicles are travelling in relation to the posted speed limit. For example, red shows edges where vehicles travelling more than 15km/h (9mph) below the posted speed limit.
  3. Speeding - Shows how fast vehicles are travelling in relation to the posted speed limit. For example, red shows edges where vehicles travelling more than 15km/h (9mph) above the posted speed limit.

Legends

A note on Legends: Legends will change slightly depending on your selected Mode.

A legend will appear in the top right-hand corner of the map. The colouring of each edge is based on the deviation from the posted speed limit. Legends will dynamically update based on your Measurement Settings (i.e., Km/h versus Mph).

Please note that the first release of this layer does not account for variable speed limits, such as school zones.
