How to use the Nearmap Imagery Integration

Compass now supports a Nearmap Imagery integration to allow users of Nearmap to access high-resolution vertical, oblique, and panoramic aerial imagery in Compass Road Intelligence.

If you are an existing user of Nearmap, please contact info@compassiot.com.au  with your Nearmap API token to enable this feature. If you are not a current Nearmap customer, please reach out to us to obtain a license.

Nearmap provides high-resolution aerial imagery, 3D content, AI datasets, and geospatial tools. Using patented camera systems, Nearmap proactively captures wide-scale urban areas in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand several times each year, making current content instantly available in the cloud via web app or API integration.

The integration provides better visuals across the road network to understand changes to road and roadside infrastructure or temporary traffic measures. You'll be able to better visualise affected sites, track changes, and manage your road network.

How to set up the integration:

If you can't see any of these options or are unable to create a new API key due to account administrator restrictions, please ask your account admin to arrange access or follow the steps below to create a new API key on your organisation's behalf.

  1. Log into your Nearmap account and press the Integration tab
  2. Select 'Create app'. The Application name is Compass IOT. Press create.
  3. Choose Compass IOT under the API key heading. Press 'Create Key'.
  4. Once you've created your Compass IOT key, it will appear in your API key list. Copy this API key and send it to our team.

Steps inside the Compass platform:

  1. Toggle Map View on Satellite
  2. Press the Nearmap Imagery button
  3. If you have more than one date range selected, you can select which date range you want to view Nearmap imagery for, or just select the latest imagery as a default.
