Understanding road-side safety for workers at a construction site.

A traffic control company up in Townsville wanted to know if a road segment was safe for the construction workers along Fulham Road. A decision needed to be made about traffic control requirements to protect the workers and work zone. The two options were either cones or concrete barriers.
By using Road Intelligence, the company was able to identify nearby driver behaviour to apply the best traffic control solutions. The assessment done analysed g-forces, swerving, and speeding/braking. Results show that workers would be at higher risk if concrete barriers weren’t used.
