Here's a walkthrough of the latest updates to the Road Intelligence Platform.
New Login Screen
If you have been a compass user for a while, you notice the login screen is slightly different. The login panel is on the right-hand side of the screen, but there is also a link to our learning hub. At the top you can expand a tab that takes you directly to all of our learning hub resources.
Visual Layers
On the bottom right-hand corner of the screen is now where you're visual layers have moved. You'll see you've got your G-forces and your speeds to toggle these on and off. You just simply click. Once something is turned on, if you hover over it, it'll show you examples of all the different metrics that you can toggle around with. If you don't want them, you just turn it back off again. Other key things down here are the maps are the ability to toggle through map and or satellite view.
Map Features - 3D Maps and School Locations
The new additions are schools and 3D maps. You'll see that you've got purple patches that have come up on the map showing the locations of schools. To see 3D buildings, you need to zoom in and tilt the map. With a mouse, this can be done by clicking both mouse buttons and pushing your mouse away from you. To tilt the map back to default, you simply drag the mouse back towards you.
Learning Mode
Clicking Learning Mode turns on pop-ups that contain tips and tricks on how to use platform features. You can either keen learning mode on and collapse these tool tips, or turn off learning mode to hide them.
Path Analysis Tool - Result Panel Layout
There are small changes to the layout of the results panel. This includes how you select and de-select any selections you made regarding date/time, path, and vehicle types.
Chainage Graphs - Speed and G-force
We've added chainage graphs for speed and g-force. This allows you to view changes in speed and g-force (including harsh braking and swerving) over distance. Hovering over the graph will make a car icon appear on the left-hand side of the panel. This helps you to identify how the data in your graphs corresponds to specific points along your particular path selection.
Origin-Destination Tool - Zone Selection
You can now select Zones across AU and the UK. This includes SA1-4, postcodes, suburbs, and wards. You can select different kinds of zones and compare between these different zone types - you are not limited to only being able to select SA1 or postcodes to compare data for.
